End of Season Social

House Warming / Re-warming / Birthday Party - 7th November

It's nearly a year since Matt and I moved into our flat, we were thinking about having a flat re-warming party but then we thought "Nah, screw it, let's move again". So in case you hadn't heard already, we're going to move into the extra rooms in James H.'s house (as his current housemates are moving out).

So this means Matt and I need a house warming party, James could do with a re-warming party and we're going to have it on my Birthday so I don't have to bother having a separate birthday party. Therefore, after our home game on 7th November you're all invited for the aforementioned shindig, let's say 8pm.
Contact Matt, Helen or James for directions.

Beer and Bacon Festival:

Topsham Quay, Fri 11th or Sat 12th September - more details to follow.

Orienteering:

Date:
Sunday 23rd August
Time:
3pm
Venue:
Double Locks
Plan:
Orienteering followed by eating, or just eating/drinking, but not eating followed by orienteering.
What is this weird suggestion?: Well the general premise is that I like to compete in multiple minority sports that no-one has heard of and orienteering is one of them!!
I will bring maps and you will bring yourselves with a vaguely sporty demeanour.  There are a number of permanent orienteering posts in Riverside Park (around Double locks), see how many people can get in a certain time. Walking and running are both options, swimming could be an (inadvisable) option for short cuts, or maybe hijacking a canoe (also not advised). Groups, pairs or on your own (although, last time groups worked badly - too much talk not enough action).  Then eating. And/or drinking.

End of Season Social

This years end of season social and awards will be on Saturday 9th May at the Dinosaur Cafe from 7pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend, and partners etc are most welcome.

Please give your menu choices and nominations for awards to Ian by the end of April

Curry night

It's curry time on Saturday 31st January, after our home games against Thunder. The precise venue will depend on numbers and availability, but I'm hoping it will be at the New Taj Mahal on Queen Street at 7.30ish.

Please let me know by Saturday 24th if you'd like to come along, so that I can book a table.
Saturday 13th December 2014 - **Christmas Party**

T
his years Exeter City Korfball Club Christmas party will be on Saturday 13th December at the City Gate hotel, starting at 7.30pm. We have an away match at Bristol Uni on that day, but the game is scheduled for 11-2, so there will be plenty of time to get back and ready to party. Thankfully no playing the day after this year...

We have the Garden suite to ourselves again, and with any luck the Secret Santa presents will enable us to leave it in as much of a mess as we did last year!

Saturday 25th October 2014 - Pub Quiz

Matt will be doing one of his legendary, world famous* pub quizzes!
White Hart, starting at 7.30pm

*Disclaimer: quiz may not actually be legendary or world famous. But it will be really good

Saturday 20th Sept 2014 - Pub Social
Pre-season 'team talk' - George's meeting house - 7.30pm

Sat 2nd Aug 2014 - Bowling

Bowling is booked for 4pm, at Haven Banks. There is plenty of space for anyone who wants to turn up on the day, no need to let us know, I'd just suggest getting there a bit before 4 to sort out shoes etc.

After bowling (6/6.30ish) we'll head to The Prospect on the quay for a few pre-dinner drinks, hopefully in the sun...

Then after that, onto The Waterfront (note the change of location!) for dinner, table is booked for 8pm.

And then after that, probably on into town...

Sat July 20th 2013: Summer Rail Ale Trail Extravaganza

Now summer seems to finally have arrived, we thought it would be good to have a club social visiting some of Devon's rural beauty. Therefore, on Saturday 20th July, we're planning to venture on the Tarka Line Rail Ale Trail. For those who don't know, this is a trip out on the train from Exeter towards Barnstaple, stopping off at some of the lovely pubs on route. More details can be found here:

Sat April 6th 2013: Pub Quiz in White Hart Pub
Be there for 7.30, Starting at 8. We'll probably sit in the lower part of the pub (turn right as you enter the main bar). Let Caroline know if you are coming so she knows how many question sheets to print.

 Pub Quiz

Steve (aka the Riddler) and his glamorous assistant Princess tested the club's general ignorance on 13 Nov '10 with a pub quiz at the White Hart.

Subjects included entertainment, music and even  baseball, but it was the multiple choice round on Steve's life that was particularly challenging.

Before we had got rid of the mental image of Steve as a fairy in his school play, it was drinking up time.

'Them Down There' got the gold stars while 'Hawaii-5-0' came bottom of the class.

 Bonfire Party

Huw, Sheena & Mac generously hosted another bonfire party at their place on 6 Nov '10 after the Bristol City match.

Mulled wine, sparklers, Chinese fire balloons and Mike & Vic on Skype from NZ all ensured a memorable night.

For the hardy there was also a 6 mile walk in the Axe Valley on the Sunday followed by warming soup. Excellent.

 Club End of Season social

24 April '10 saw us at Bar Rendezvous for the end of season awards, which sadly doubled this year as Tony's leaving do.

Seven years' outstanding service to korfball in Exeter was duly recognised by the award of assorted horticultural accessories to help him in the allotment during retirement, while Russell compared the great man to Gandhi, or was that Einstein, or both? Anyway who can argue.

 Mel's Leaving Drinks

New and old members of the club gathered at the City Gate on 16 October '09 to wish Mel and Luke well in their move to Poole.

Before heading to John Gandy's for last orders, Mel put on her beer goggles (literally), Tony spilt his pint (again) and Russell made a nice speech.

Come back and see us soon, Mel.

In July '08 we swung from the branches at Haldon Hill's tree-top adventure. Death slides were slid, rickety bridges were traversed, scramble nets were impacted at alarming speed on the end of tarzan ropes. Some of us even got certificates signed by the Chief Gorilla to prove it!
